This is the Handmade Emperor's Dragon Katana Sword. As with Chinese culture the Japanese Dragon is a symbol closely associated with the Emperor of Japan. The Emperor's sword has been expertly hand crafted in the traditional Japanese method. All of the fittings have been authentically created and the Tsuba plated with both gold and silver. The scabbard features a beautiful hand painted Heaven Dragon in flight.

The Katana includes: A wooden collectors box, Sword Bag, Cleaning Kit, One Tier Sword Stand, and certificate of Authenticity.

Attributes of the Weapon:

Blade: The blade of the sword has been constructed from 1060 High Carbon steel in a Maru Lamination. In accordance with Japanese tradition, the blade has been treated with a clay covering, applied to the entire sword except the cutting edge. The blade is then heated and quenched in spring water. The combination of the quenching and the clay cover creates a significant temperature difference in the Ha of the blade and the rest of the sword.

The result is that the Ha cools much more quickly than the rest of the blade, the molecules of the Cutting edge expand and push back the softer steel of the blade creating the traditional Japanese curve. The clay covering technique also results in a difference in hardness of the blade, with the Yakiba having a 58 degree hardness and the Shinogi having a 45 degree hardness. This difference insures that the blade is both extremely hard yet flexible.

The blade features a flat ridge line, Bo-Hi and O-Kisske. The tang of the sword has been dated and given a serial number to prove authenticity.

Saya: The Saya has been constructed from wood with dull gloss black lacquer finish. The Heaven Dragon has been richly painted across the scabbard. A black silk Sage-o has been tied around the bright copper Kurigata. THe Koi-guchi is bull horn.

Tsuba: The Habaki is a one piece brass construction over a brass Seppa. The Tsuba has also been constructed of brass in a complex pattern of two dragons circling each other. The dragons have been plated in gold and the clouds plated in silver. An additional Seppa rests behind the Tsuba to secure the tang of the sword in the Tsuka.

Tsuka: The Tsuka core is wooden with a Ray Skin Same wrapped over the wood. A black silk Ito has been wrapped over the Same. Two bamboo Mekugi secure the tang in the Tsuka. Brass Dragon Menuki are found on each side of the Tsuka. The Kashira is bronze with a gold plated dragon coiled around a silver plated cloud.
